Bethenny Frankel is opening up about her latest medical issue.
In a tweet Friday, the “Real Housewives of New York City” star, 48, revealed she’s been diagnosed with “leaky gut syndrome” and a wheat allergy.
She appeared to be in good spirits about the diagnosis, however, poking a bit of fun at herself during the announcement.
“Just when you thought it couldn’t get sexier, I was diagnosed today with ‘leaky gut syndrome’ and a wheat allergy,” she wrote. “Could there be a more vile title? That I wouldn’t have put on my dating profile. Ok tweeps, hit me with the info.”
Leaky gut syndrome, also known as “intestinal permeability,” is a condition where the lining of the intestines becomes damaged, causing undigested food particles and toxins to leak through, according to Harvard Health Publishing and HealthyWomen.org. This can cause inflammation, issues with digestion and more.
This isn’t the first time Frankel has been open about her health. She’s also been candid about her deadly fish allergy.
In December 2018, she recounted a near-death experience that rendered her unconscious and landed her in the ICU after accidentally eating soup with fish in it.
